Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the Quran Telugu mobile application ("the App", "we", "our") handles your information on Android and iOS. We built Quran Telugu to serve the Telugu-speaking Muslim community, and we designed it to collect as little data as possible — and never your personal identity.
Summary
- We do not require an account to use the App.
- We do not sell your data or show third-party ads.
- We collect anonymous usage and crash data to improve the App — never your name, email, or personal identity.
- Your content (bookmarks, settings, dhikr counts) is stored locally on your device.
- Your GPS location is used on your device only to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction — it is never sent to our servers.
Information the App Uses
1. Location (optional)
If you grant location permission, the App uses your device's GPS location to calculate accurate prayer (namaz) times and the Qibla direction. This calculation happens entirely on your device. Your precise location is stored only in the App's local storage on your device and is never transmitted to us or to any third party. You may also enter prayer times manually and never grant location access; the App remains fully functional. (A separate, approximate country-level location may be derived from your IP address for anonymous analytics — see section 6.)
2. Notifications & Alarms
With your permission, the App schedules local notifications and alarms on your device for prayer times (adhan), daily Quran reading reminders and Friday greetings. These are scheduled locally and involve no external service.
3. Purchases (iOS)
On iOS, premium access is provided through an auto-renewable subscription processed entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We do not receive or store your name, address, or payment details. The App checks your subscription status through Apple's StoreKit framework and stores only the subscription state (for example, "active" or "expired") locally on your device. Purchases can be managed or cancelled in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
4. Audio Streaming
When you listen to Quran recitation, audio is streamed over the internet from content servers. These requests include standard technical information (such as your IP address) that any internet request carries. We do not use this to identify you.
5. Locally Stored Data
Your bookmarks, reading position, app settings, tasbih/dhikr counts and prayer-time preferences are stored only on your device. Deleting the App removes this data. We have no access to it.
6. Anonymous Analytics & Crash Reporting
To understand which features are useful and to fix bugs, the App collects anonymous, non-identifying data through our analytics provider, PostHog. This includes:
- Usage data — which features and screens are opened (for example Quran, Dua, Namaz, Tasbih) and general engagement such as time of day of use.
- Crash & diagnostic data — anonymous crash logs used to improve stability.
- Approximate location — a country/region estimate derived automatically from your IP address (this is not GPS and is not precise).
- Basic technical information — device type, operating system and version, and app version.
- An anonymous identifier — a random, app-generated ID used to count returning users; it is not linked to your real-world identity.
This data is not linked to your personal identity and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. It is processed by PostHog on our behalf and stored on their cloud infrastructure in the United States. You can read PostHog's privacy policy at https://posthog.com/privacy. Uninstalling the App stops all analytics collection.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- No account registration, email or phone number is required.
- No contacts, photos, camera or microphone access.
- No advertising identifiers or cross-app advertising tracking.
- No sale of personal information to third parties.
- No name, precise address, or payment details (purchases are handled by Apple / Google).
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The analytics we collect is anonymous and is not used to identify any individual, so the App is safe for family use.
Data Security
Your content (bookmarks, settings, preferences) never leaves your device. The anonymous usage and crash data described above is transmitted securely over encrypted connections (HTTPS) to our analytics provider. We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date.
Changes to This Policy
If the App adds or removes features that change how data is handled, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date above before those changes go live.
